A Venezuelan man was shot and killed early Monday morning at the entrance of his residence in the Puente Alto commune.
The incident occurred within the Los Ciruelos condominium, located at the intersection of Pedro Núñez Fernández and Ejército Libertador.
Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the individuals involved in the shooting may be a cousin of the victim. Authorities are currently investigating the possibility that the homicide was an act of retaliation or a settling of scores.
Neighbors in the sector reported hearing the gunfire and immediately contacted the Metropolitan SAMU emergency service. Residents attempted to provide medical assistance to the victim in an effort to save his life, but he died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
Witnesses at the scene described a heated verbal altercation between the two relatives that preceded the violence. The victim sustained two ballistic impacts during the confrontation.
Detectives from the PDI Homicide Brigade also noted that the attackers targeted the victim's vehicle. The car sustained a bullet impact during the attack.
Narcotics discovery
During the forensic inspection of the crime scene, investigators discovered a truck containing a large quantity of marijuana. Specialized agents are currently conducting a full review and count of the seized narcotics.
Subcomisario Felipe González, representing the PDI Homicide Brigade South, provided details regarding the encounter.
“Unknown subjects maintained a discussion with the victim inside his property, then one of them, using a firearm, fired once against the victim,” González said.
The officer confirmed that the victim died at the location of the shooting. The assailants fled the scene in a vehicle traveling in an unknown direction.
Investigators are continuing to conduct forensic diligences to establish the identity of the suspects and the specific motive behind the killing.
