Senator Camila Flores broke her silence Thursday regarding an ongoing investigation by the Chilean Public Ministry into allegations of public fraud. The lawmaker stated she would cooperate fully with the judicial process despite having limited access to the details of the case.

Flores addressed the inquiry in a public statement, describing herself as a "brave woman" who will not be intimidated by efforts to damage her character. She expressed confidence that the truth will ultimately emerge regarding the accusations.

Investigation details remain under seal

The senator confirmed that the case is currently under a confidentiality order, preventing her from viewing the full scope of the allegations. She noted that her legal team believes the investigation originated from an anonymous complaint.

"I am a brave woman and I will not let myself be intimidated by attempts to affect my honor," Flores said. She added that she plans to evaluate future legal actions to protect her name against what she termed "unfounded accusations."

Prosecutors are currently conducting investigative steps that involve third parties, according to the senator. She suggested that the origins of the complaint may lie outside the public sphere, a matter she expects to be clarified as the investigation progresses.

Flores committed to providing all documentation and information requested by the Public Ministry. The investigation remains in its preliminary stage, and no formal charges have been filed against the senator at this time.

The Public Ministry is now tasked with determining whether the evidence supports the claims of fraud. Until the investigation concludes, the details of the specific mechanisms allegedly used by the senator’s staff remain restricted.
