The Valparaíso Regional Prosecutor's Office has opened a formal investigation into Senator Camila Flores regarding alleged official misconduct, including repeated counts of fraud against the state. The inquiry stems from an anonymous complaint filed in October 2025, which reportedly details a scheme involving the misappropriation of public funds.

According to the prosecution, the case is currently handled by the Regional Anti-Corruption Unit, with active investigative work being conducted by the OS9 division of the Carabineros. In an official statement dated April 4, 2026, the Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed that the investigation remains in the development phase, according to CNN Chile. Officials have placed the proceedings under a strict confidentiality order to ensure the integrity of the ongoing evidence collection.

Reports indicate that the investigation centers on an alleged system where parliamentary staff were required to return a portion of their salaries to the legislator in cash. This arrangement has been referred to informally by congressional workers as “la cuota Flores,” or “the Flores quota,” according to testimony from a former advisor cited by T13.

Senator Flores responds to allegations

Senator Camila Flores (RN) addressed the investigation on Monday, labeling the accusations as “without substance.” She confirmed that she has not yet seen the details of the complaint due to its confidential status, but maintained her innocence.

“Soy una mujer valiente y no me voy a dejar amedrentar por intentos de afectar mi honra,” Flores stated. She added, “I face the accusation with the peace of mind of someone who has nothing to hide, and with the conviction that the truth always finds a way.”

Flores asserted that she would cooperate fully with the justice system, providing all requested documentation. However, she suggested that the motive behind the complaint may be personal rather than professional. “Lamentablemente, este tipo de situaciones muchas veces tienen un origen ajeno a lo público, cuestión que deberá ser esclarecida,” the senator said.

The prosecutor’s office confirmed that it notified the State Defense Council (CDE) of the investigation. As of now, the case remains in the development phase, and no charges have been formally brought against the senator. Under the Chilean Code of Criminal Procedure, all individuals under investigation are presumed innocent until a final judicial sentence is rendered.
