Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has demanded explanations after confirming the involvement of CIA officers in an operation conducted in the state of Chihuahua. The incident, which aimed to dismantle a drug laboratory in northern Mexico, took place without prior notification to the federal government.
Sheinbaum stated that the federal government was not informed about the inclusion of CIA agents in the action against the drug lab. In response to the situation, the President noted that she is seeking answers from both the United States Ambassador and state officials.
Furthermore, the President announced that she is evaluating the possibility of imposing sanctions against the government of Chihuahua, a state bordering Texas. This measure is being considered following the operation which, according to reports, resulted in the deaths of CIA agents during the raid on the drug laboratory.
