Rebel forces have seized the strategic Tessalat military base near the Algerian border, according to a report by France 24.
The takeover resulted in the surrender of the Malian army and its Russian mercenary allies, the outlet reported.
Regional instability
The fall of the base marks a significant shift in control over the border region. The loss of the facility, located near the Algerian frontier, weakens the government's grip on northern Mali.
In separate regional developments, former DRC leader Joseph Kabila has denied United States accusations that he is providing support to rebel fighters.
Meanwhile, the Anoumabo Urban Music Festival in Abidjan has named Gabon as its guest of honor.
