The ReLib – La [r]evolución del libro literary festival will celebrate its third edition on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at Puerto Varas' Parque Estación. The event aims to establish itself as a premier gathering space for creativity, books, and reading, offering a free program open to all audiences.
Organized by Fundación ParqueSur and Editoriales de Chile, the initiative will feature more than 55 independent publishers. The catalog will span various genres, including fiction, essays, short stories, and children's and young adult literature, alongside appearances by authors and illustrators from across the country, according to elmostrador.cl.
Francisca Muñoz, director of ReLib and executive director of Editoriales de Chile, highlighted the focus of this year's edition. “ReLib is an invitation to experience books firsthand—not just as objects, but as a creative process and a meeting point. This year, we are reinforcing its family-oriented and participatory dimension, especially during a long weekend that allows more people to come together to enjoy reading, music, and creativity,” the director noted.
Activities and community engagement
The festival is funded by the 2025 Book and Reading Fund from the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage. Saturday's programming will kick off at 4:00 PM with a storytelling session by Bibliobús Moviendo Sueños, followed by a fanzine workshop led by Javiera León, and an opening ceremony at 7:00 PM.
Sunday's activities will begin at 11:00 AM with workshops on mini-books, poetry, and collective calligraphy. A highlight of the event will be the 'Illustration Round,' a live creative duel taking place at 5:00 PM on both days, where illustrators will tackle concepts proposed by the audience.
Music will also play a central role, featuring performances by Schnaps Trío, the puppet show Superduogenial, and a closing set by Los Lagos Ensamble Tala. The festival's reach also extends to the local school community through the Reading Encounter for One-Teacher Rural Schools, which will involve 380 students from the SLEP Llanquihue in reading mediation activities and creative stations.
