PARIS — A new cultural hub in Paris, MansA, has opened as an exhibition venue and meeting point dedicated to the diverse expressions of Afro-descendant cultures. The space functions as an 'open house' for artists and creators, providing a platform for African arts and culture within the French capital.
Alongside the physical launch, the center has introduced a new bilingual magazine. Sebastien Thème, the magazine's editor, says the publication aims to celebrate 'Black excellence' through various media and artistic contributions.
Repatriation and Legacy
Thème also addressed the ongoing political landscape regarding African heritage. He noted the French legislation currently under debate, which seeks to facilitate the return of thousands of looted treasures to their countries of origin.
The center's programming looks to bridge historical struggles with contemporary activism. Thème highlighted the work of cultural figures who continue the intellectual legacy of civil rights leaders such as Angela Davis.
By providing a space for both art and dialogue, MansA seeks to connect the African diaspora through shared cultural experiences and academic discourse.
