Netflix has announced a landmark agreement with CONCACAF to exclusively broadcast the Nations League Finals and the Gold Cup in Mexico during the 2027 and 2029 editions. The deal, which is limited to the Mexican market and men's national team competitions, signals a major shift in the country's sports broadcasting landscape.

The streaming giant is set to begin its coverage in March 2027 with the fifth edition of the Nations League Finals, held at SoFi Stadium in the United States. Later that summer, the platform will also broadcast the Gold Cup, a tournament featuring 16 teams from across the region.

Netflix subscribers will be able to watch these tournaments as part of their existing plans, with no additional subscription fees required. As reported by Xataka Mexico, the platform has already been testing the waters with live sporting events such as the NFL and WWE, as part of a broader strategy to integrate soccer into its core service.

A Strategic Move for Streaming and CONCACAF

For CONCACAF, the partnership is a move to diversify content distribution and reach digital-first audiences. Philippe Moggio, the confederation's General Secretary, stated: “We know that the passion for soccer in Mexico is unique, and this agreement allows us to bring these competitions closer to millions of fans through a new platform.”

Meanwhile, Netflix is looking to bolster its live event lineup to drive engagement with local audiences. Carolina Leconte, Netflix's Vice President of Content for Mexico and Acquisitions for Latin America, noted: “At Netflix, we are increasingly betting on live events that connect with our audience's greatest passions, and soccer is, without a doubt, the passion that unites us as Mexicans. CONCACAF national team matches bring together millions of fans in Mexico like few other events can. We are thrilled that, in the coming years, fans in Mexico will be able to experience the Nations League Finals and the Gold Cup exclusively through Netflix at no additional cost.”

This shift challenges the historical dominance of traditional broadcasters in Mexico. Until the 2025 Gold Cup, Televisa held the exclusive rights to the tournament, while TV Azteca opted not to bid for them.

While the deal grants exclusivity to the streaming platform, uncertainty remains as to whether all matches involving the Mexican Men's National Team will be included. Furthermore, Netflix's expansion coincides with a legislative proposal from the Morena party, which seeks to mandate that all matches involving national representative teams be broadcast on free-to-air television.
