The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have arrived in Australia to begin a four-day tour that includes both charitable engagements and private business meetings.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are conducting the visit as private citizens. The couple officially stepped down from their roles as working royals in January 2020.
This arrival marks a departure from their previous visit to the country in 2018. Since leaving their royal roles, the pair have relinquished their His and Her Royal Highness (HRH) titles.
Charitable and private engagements
The tour itinerary includes visits to a children's hospital to meet with patients and medical staff. The couple will also spend time with military veterans and their families.
Part of the schedule incorporates meetings with survivors of family violence. These sessions form part of the couple's outreach during the trip.
The visit includes private, money-making engagements alongside these public-facing events. The Duke and Duchess have stated that this trip is privately funded.
BBC News journalist Simon Atkinson noted that the structure of this visit differs from their 2018 tour. The distinction lies in their status as private individuals rather than representatives of the Crown.
