Juan Carlos Donoso, a member of the comedy group Los Atletas de la Risa, bid farewell to his wife, Myriam Salazar, this weekend with a musical performance at her graveside. Her death last Tuesday has sparked serious allegations of medical negligence against the former Posta Central hospital.

Footage of the tribute was shared via the comedians' Instagram account. In the video, Donoso—popularly known as “Guatón”—performs José Feliciano’s “La balada del pianista.”

His fellow group member, Roberto Saldías, also known as “El Chino,” joined him in song. The emotional moment moved the family and friends in attendance.

The social media post drew a massive response from the comedy group's followers, who used the platform to send messages of support to the comedian during his grief.

Notable comments included messages such as “Stay strong, Guatón,” “We are with you,” and “All of Chile stands with you,” as fans showed solidarity following the comedian's loss.

Allegations of medical negligence

Salazar’s death follows a series of accusations against staff at the former Posta Central. In an interview on the morning show ‘Contigo en la Mañana,’ Donoso detailed the irregularities that occurred during his wife's stay at the facility.

The comedian explained that he and his daughter rushed her to the hospital after noticing she was experiencing stomach pains. However, the care she received was marred by failures that the family describes as critical.

The victim's daughter described the trauma of facing a medical emergency without immediate assistance from healthcare staff. “It is devastating to have to resuscitate your own mother,” the young woman stated during the television program.

According to her testimony, the nurses at the former Posta Central were excessively slow to react. “They (the nurses) were so slow and calm, while I was performing CPR,” the victim's daughter said.

Myriam Salazar passed away just hours after being admitted to the hospital.
