The Chilean film "La corazonada" earned a special mention at the Festival Latino Americano de París (CLaP) this Sunday. The award recognizes the work of director Diego Soto at the only festival in the French capital dedicated exclusively to Latin American cinema.
The film explores a delicate romance that develops during the filming of a movie. The narrative weaves together the personal lives of its characters with the professional chaos of a film set.
A period of success for Chilean cinema
The story follows Nieves, a woman who manages a seaside spa alongside her son. During a summer season, a motorcyclist enters her life, initiating a romance that appears destined for failure.
The arrival of a filmmaker changes the trajectory of the characters' lives. By casting Nieves and the motorcyclist in a new production, the director creates a space where the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to dissolve.
This recognition at CLaP confirms a period of high visibility for Chilean cinema. The film follows the success of last year's festival, where the Grand CLaP was awarded as an ex aequo prize.
That top honor was shared by the Chilean production "Cuando las nubes esconden la sombra," directed by José Luis Torres Leiva, and the Brazilian film "Greice," directed by Leonardo Mouramateus. The latest award for "La corazonada" reinforces the presence of Chilean storytelling in the international festival circuit.
