Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses to Chile, a pair of smart glasses focused on personal audio that emphasizes discretion and ergonomics. The device aims to compete in the wearable market without relying on bulky designs or complex visual interfaces.
The standout feature of this model is its weight, which comes in at under 33 grams. According to the brand, this lightweight build allows for extended wear without sacrificing user comfort.
A focus on aesthetic normalcy
The design of the glasses prioritizes the look of conventional eyewear. Xiaomi has implemented an interchangeable hinge system that allows users to switch between frame styles—such as aviator, browline, or titanium—while using the same electronic base in the temples.
The audio system utilizes open-ear technology. Speakers integrated into the temples direct sound straight into the ear canal, minimizing sound leakage to the surrounding environment. Additionally, the device incorporates microphones equipped with AI algorithms to cancel out ambient noise during calls.
Connectivity allows the glasses to be paired with two devices simultaneously. This makes it easy to switch between a computer for meetings and a mobile phone without the need for constant manual adjustments.
As for battery life, the manufacturer promises up to 10 hours of continuous music playback or 7 hours of talk time. When the user takes the glasses off, the device enters a standby mode that extends battery life for up to a week.
Interaction with the device's functions is handled via touch panels on the temples. Through simple gestures, users can manage volume, skip tracks, or activate their voice assistant without ever touching their smartphone.
While the product lacks the cameras and social media integration offered by brands like Ray-Ban Meta, it does support real-time audio recording. The glasses are now available in the Chilean market, with prices starting at $189,990 CLP, depending on the chosen model.
