Artificial intelligence agents in a corporate environment

Seven out of ten companies in Mexico are maintaining a cautious stance toward the use of autonomous artificial intelligence agents, according to a report by expansion.mx.

Chief technology officers across the country have opted to avoid the risks associated with agentic AI, prioritizing more proven models that deliver measurable results.

During the ChatGPT boom in 2023, many organizations attempted to implement generative artificial intelligence, but the results failed to meet initial expectations, said Rodríguez, a specialist consulted by the outlet.

The success rate for these projects was notably low. Out of every ten initiatives utilizing generative AI, only two became well-implemented solutions with tangible results, the expert noted.

A Return to Traditional AI

This scenario has prompted technology leaders to re-evaluate their toolsets, returning to traditional AI models that have already proven their effectiveness.

Huescas, another specialist cited by the source, mentioned that computer vision is a clear example of this return to proven technology.

This technology remains fundamental for critical tasks, such as quality control on manufacturing lines and compliance with industrial safety standards.

While agentic AI continues to advance, particularly in the area of customer service, its implementation faces structural barriers. The success of these technologies does not depend solely on the available software.

Many technological efforts end up in an operational limbo because companies lack a robust strategy. To avoid failure, any AI initiative must be integrated into the core of the business rather than being treated as a mere technical curiosity, Rodríguez concluded.
