Google has updated its Gemini AI to analyze information from Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube to provide more personalized user experiences. This new capability allows the platform to "reason" through user data to deliver contextual answers and anticipate user needs.

The update enables the AI to provide precise recommendations without requiring users to provide every detail explicitly. The system uses patterns of behavior and search history to adjust its results.

The rollout began in the United States as part of a broader industry shift toward highly personalized artificial intelligence. These models are moving beyond simple direct instructions to incorporate user-specific data.

Privacy and user controls

Google stated that the personalization feature will remain disabled by default. Users must manually choose which applications to connect to Gemini.

The company also clarified that the system will only apply personalization when it determines the data can add value to a response. This prevents unnecessary data processing for simple queries.

Users can manage their data through several available controls. These include the ability to deactivate the use of previous conversations, manage or delete histories, and provide direct feedback on personalized responses.

The tool is currently available on web browsers, Android, and iOS platforms. However, this initial phase excludes enterprise, educational, and Workspace profiles, limiting the update to personal accounts.
