A new era in audience measurement

Ibope has recently implemented a new methodology that integrates content consumption across cable, digital platforms, and mobile devices. This new system tracks a population of 16.6 million people across all 16 regions of Chile.

The technical upgrade includes the use of the People Meter 7 and the Focal Meter, a device designed to track video consumption on smart TVs, computers, and smartphones. Additionally, the company has transitioned from using percentage-based metrics to absolute values to determine the exact number of viewers per screen.

“The way we consume content has changed radically with digitalization, and audience measurement had to evolve as well,” said Ignacio Mirchak, Ibope’s Country Leader in Chile.

According to the executive, this advancement will provide a clearer picture of the true reach of broadcasts, allowing for more optimized advertising investment. The new data structure is intended to enhance precision in strategic decision-making for free-to-air television networks.
