Scotiabank launched its new 'Singular' banking division in Mexico this week, targeting affluent clients with a focus on personalized wealth management and lifestyle-oriented financial solutions. The institution aims to shift from traditional banking models toward a service-based approach that prioritizes individual financial goals.

Premium credit and travel incentives

The centerpiece of this new offering is the Singular by Scotiabank Infinite credit card. The metal card, which features contactless technology, is designed specifically for frequent travelers and high-spending consumers.

Cardholders receive double points on the ScotiaRewards program when booking flights, hotels, or rental cars. The bank is also positioning the card as a travel companion by offering a 100% reimbursement for Global Entry fees to expedite entry into the United States.

Travelers are also granted access to more than 1,600 VIP LoungeKey airport lounges globally. The benefit extends to the primary cardholder, all additional cardholders, and up to 10 guests per year at no extra cost, according to the official product terms.

To further incentivize airport travel, the bank will provide a credit of up to 300 pesos per trip for travel to Mexico City’s two airports, the AICM and the AIFA. This benefit is available for up to six trips annually.

Beyond travel perks, the card offers financial flexibility for international shoppers. Users can defer foreign purchases for up to 12 months without interest. Additionally, new clients who activate the card can opt for a six-month interest-free period on purchases made within the first 30 days, provided they meet specific spending requirements.

Beyond the credit card, Singular by Scotiabank provides clients with a dedicated 24/7 concierge service. This team handles travel arrangements and reservations, reflecting the bank's broader strategy to position itself as a lifestyle partner rather than just a credit provider.

Scotiabank stated that the division is built around a team of financial specialists tasked with guiding investment decisions. These advisors are assigned to help clients manage their portfolios and reach specific financial objectives tailored to their unique needs.

While the bank emphasizes exclusivity, it has tied the waiving of annual fees to specific billing targets. The move signals a broader trend in the Mexican banking sector toward capturing the premium market through integrated digital experiences and personalized human support.
