The electric vehicle market in Mexico has reached a new level of affordability with the arrival of options priced under 400,000 pesos. According to a report from expansion.mx, this shift in pricing has boosted interest among consumers looking for mobility alternatives without the high costs seen in previous years.
However, the outlet warns that grouping all these models into a single category could be misleading, as not all vehicles are designed for the same driving needs.
The JAC E10X stands out as the most affordable option in the country. Starting at approximately 371,000 pesos, this model offers a range of 301 kilometers and is focused exclusively on urban commuting.
Meanwhile, Geely offers the EX2 starting at 389,900 pesos. This vehicle distinguishes itself with a range of up to 395 kilometers and 85 kW of power, prioritizing user peace of mind with a battery warranty of up to eight years.
Differences Between Urban and Highway Mobility
BYD presents the Dolphin Mini, with prices ranging from 399,800 to 415,800 pesos. Utilizing the e-Platform 3.0, this model supports fast charging, capable of going from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
For those looking to venture beyond the city, the MG 4 Electric offers a functional step up. Starting at 419,000 pesos with a 350-kilometer range, this car is better suited for highway driving thanks to its higher 125 kW power output.
Finally, the premium segment of this group is led by the GWM ORA 03. Priced at 619,900 pesos, this vehicle offers up to 500 kilometers of range and a more advanced, tech-focused driving experience.
The primary distinction between these options lies in their operational capacity. Models priced below 400,000 pesos are designed for controlled, short-distance trips, while those exceeding that threshold offer the greater range necessary for long-distance travel.
