Artificial intelligence is emerging as the unexpected star of Mexico's Hot Sale 2026, evolving from a simple text-generation tool into an essential shopping assistant for consumers. According to data from the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO) reported by Xataka, 80% of Mexicans plan to make purchases during the event, which will take place from May 25 to June 2.

The disruptive factor in this year's edition is the widespread use of technology to drive decision-making. Sixty percent of consumers surveyed by the AMVO plan to integrate artificial intelligence into their shopping process, cementing a trend experts call 'agent commerce.'

Under this model, AI moves beyond the role of a basic chatbot to become an agent capable of analyzing technical specifications, comparing prices, and, most importantly, auditing the legitimacy of promotions. Data indicates that 61% of users will use it to compare products, while 55% will seek personalized recommendations.

AI as a Tool for Commercial Skepticism

A key finding in the report is the use of technology as a defense mechanism against potential advertising scams. Fifty-two percent of Mexican shoppers will use digital tools to verify whether a discount is genuine, prioritizing validation over impulse buying.

Anticipation also defines this year's event: 85% of consumers will begin researching products and prices at least a week before the official start of the sales. Forty-one percent of this group will start their research even two weeks in advance, forcing retailers to adjust their digital positioning strategies to appear in the search results of these artificial intelligences.

Although e-commerce maintains its lead, consumer behavior is becoming increasingly hybrid. The AMVO notes that 66% of people research online before visiting a physical store, while 71% combine both channels during the purchasing process. With nearly 700 participating companies and sales expectations that could exceed 42 billion pesos, Hot Sale 2026 marks the moment artificial intelligence becomes firmly integrated into the daily consumer routine in Mexico.
